The European Parliament adopted a new Directive to enhance online music licensing

The proposed by the Directive passed by the European Parliament on February 4th, 2014, has approved the proposed legislation by a large majority.

The intention of the new Directive is to encourage online music providers in the EU could obtain licenses from collecting societies and that such licenses covers more than one Member State.

MEPs have managed to introduce its call management entities such licenses granted under the same conditions for all codes representing.

The proposal of the Directive also introduces measures to ensure transparency and proper management of collecting societies, establishing transparency and information requirements and minimum standards of governance, collection and use of profits.
