New Discounts On Social Security Payments For Companies That Hire Unemployed Workers With Children

23 January 2009

In view of the sharp slowdown in economic activity and the rise in unemployment in the past few months, the government included, amongst other measures in Royal Decree 1975/2008 dated November 28, a new discount for company hires.

Specifically, companies that hire, as full-time indefinite employees, unemployed workers with one child or more in their care will receive a discount of 125 €/month, or the daily equivalent, on their company Social Security payments. The family responsibility must be accredited at the time of hire if it is not already on record in the Public Unemployment Office.

This discount will apply from December 3, 2008 to December 31, 2010 and will also apply, proportionally, to part-time hires.
